Maldon & District Branch A Brief History
Regular payments have been made since 1950 to Headquarters via the Regional Office of the day in Reigate.
The Branch was established in the early 1950s
by Jimmy Gozzett, a local businessman, and at the time serving his first period as Commodore of
the Maldon Little Ship Club.
During the whole period of its existence
the Branch has had a very close relationship with the MLSC.
With its clubhouse being used for our meetings, and its members providing a good proportion of the officers and committee.
Unfortunately the early Branch records cannot be found at present, and this history starts from the Annual General Meeting held in December
1975. All information has been extracted from the minute books.
This formed a good base for the 1992
incoming Chairman Ken Harrison.
Minute books for 1989 onwards are not yet to hand and details
of the past years will be produced in due course. However
it is worth noting that, under Ken's guidance and in no small
part due to his hard work, income has continued to grow from 1992
through to 2002.
